Pace Protects The Power At South Thames College
Installations, one of the UK’s leading providers of acoustic, dry
lining and fire protection services, has completed a programme of
sealing works at South Thames College, to protect a sub basement
switchroom from flooding during heavy rainfall.
As the college is situated in a high water table, the sub basement switchroom was liable to flooding during periods of rain, posing a potential risk to the college’s power supply. To prevent flooding of the critical area, CSD Actifoam was specified to provide a watertight seal to the external wall of the building.
Main contractors, BAM Construction, commissioned approved CSD installer, Pace, to carry out the full installation works. Working within a restricted space and under tight access conditions, Pace sealed two large insitu openings and corresponding cables in just two days.
Fred Tatnell, senior site manager, BAM Construction, comments: “The Pace team were extremely efficient on-site, delivering a quality and professional installation. As approved CSD installers, we were confident in their abilities and are extremely pleased with the final result. We would definitely work with them again.”
Pace is the UK’s only CSD approved installer. All Pace fire protection site operatives are qualified to manufacturer standards and have a proven record of delivering high quality and efficient installations across a wide range of sectors, including power, petrochemical, commercial and education.
Alan Page, fire protection divisional director, concludes: “The principle of fire stopping and watertightness is the same – you need to achieve an effective seal of the area. As a result, we are increasingly using our expertise in fire protection to provide competitive and professional installation services for watertightness applications.”
